The 'West Country'. It is only when you look at the history, topology; and the towns and villages of the West Country, that you realize just what a truly wonderful, diverse place it is. So welcome to my virtual tour of the Towns, and Villages, of the part of our Country, we know and love as the 'West Country'. An area which encompasses the legendary, and historical county of Cornwall, with it's quaint coastal Towns, and Villages, and wild rugged coast. The beautiful green rolling countryside, and seaside resorts of Devon. The gentle welcoming hills, wildlife, and scenery of Somerset. And last, but by no-means least, the ancient jurassic coast of Dorset. I am aware strictly speaking Dorset does not fall under the auspices of the West Country, but Dorset is such a beautiful historic county, it is after all: 'Hardy Country.' I felt in all honesty, I could not leave it out. Yes the West Country, is the favorite destination for millions of visitors each year. And they do not confine their visits to the summer months. For today more, and more people are taking Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter holidays; and more and more people are choosing to spend a quiet traditional Christmas here in the West Country. Personally I think Autumn is a particularly wonderful time of the year to visit, and see the hues of the flora, and forna change as they prepare, for the onslaught of winter.
