The 'West Country'. It is only when you look at the history, and topology of the West Country, that you realize just what a truly wonderful, and diverse place it is. So welcome to my virtual tour of the towns, and villages, of the part of our country, we know and love as the 'West Country'. An area which encompasses the legendary, and historical county of Cornwall; with it's quaint towns, and villages plus its wild, and rugged coast. We will visit; the beautiful green rolling countryside, and popular seaside resorts of Devon. The gentle welcoming hills, wildlife and scenery of historic Somerset. And last; but by no-means least, the ancient jurassic coast of Dorset. I am aware strictly speaking Dorset does not fall under the auspices of the West Country. But Dorset is such a beautiful historic county; it is after all: 'Hardy Country' I felt in all honesty, I could not leave it out. Yes the West Country is an amazing place, with spectacular countryside, a magnificent wild coast, abundant wildlife both land and sea, historical villages, and towns, that date from the Celtic, Anglo Saxon, and Norman periods of our history. It is easy to see why the West Country is the favorite destination for millions of visitors each year. And they do not confine their visits to the summer months. For today; more and more people are taking Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter holidays. And an increasing number of people are choosing to spend a quiet traditional Christmas here in the West Country. Personally: I think Autumn is a particularly wonderful time of the year to visit and see the flora, and forna change; as they prepare for the onslaught of winter. So why not join them this year? and enjoy either a busy, vibrant, fun filled Summer holiday; or a quiet invigorating Winter break. You will find an comprehensive list of Guest Houses, Hotels, Cottages, and Apartments on the holiday accommodation page; guaranteed to suit all your requirements.
